INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR CHRISTIAN SOCIAL TEACHING

SOCIAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR RELIGION AND CULTURE AT ARISTOTLE UNIVERSITY

Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, Church of England
The Meeting intends to build on the Encyclical letter Laudato Si (2015) of Pope Francis as well as on The Witness of the Church in Today’s World which is expected to by adopted by the Panorthodox Synod in June 2016, to explore their meaning and potential contrbution to Christian Unity and to the contemporary world. The Meeting will focus on the following issues :
• Creation, Nature and Ecology in Christian Tradition(s)
• Integral Ecology: the underlying diagnosis of the state of the world
• Integral Ecology – common roots for an oecumenical Christian Social Teaching
• Integral Ecology – ways forward and practical steps
Thursday 1st September
20h00-23h00 Welcome dinner at CEMES headquarters followed by sightseeing by night
Excursion “On the Footsteps of St. Paul” - Optionnal
Early departure on Sunday 4th, return to Thessaloniki on Thusday 6th, late afternoon
Attending at Veria the Orthodox Divine Liturgy at the Old Cathedral, a visit St. Paul’s Bema, and then
continuing to Philippi’s first Christian Baptistery on European soil.
